Cheeley Law Group
Cheeley Law Group is a personal injury law firm based in Alpharetta, Georgia, led by founder and managing partner Robert D. "Bob" Cheeley.[1] The firm represents victims of serious and catastrophic injuries and families in wrongful death cases throughout Metro Atlanta and the State of Georgia, and reports more than $1.36 billion recovered for its clients.[1]
Founder
Bob Cheeley was born and raised in Georgia and graduated cum laude from the University of Georgia and, in 1982, from the University of Georgia School of Law.[2] He is admitted before all Georgia trial courts, the U.S. District Courts for the Northern and Middle Districts of Georgia, the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Eleventh Circuit and the Supreme Court of the United States.[2] He holds an AV Preeminent rating from Martindale-Hubbell, was named National Trial Lawyer of the Year by Public Citizen in 1993, and is a member of the Georgia Trial Lawyers Association and the American Association for Justice.[2][4]
Approach
The firm describes itself as case-selective rather than volume-based, keeping direct attorney involvement at the center of each matter and preparing every case as though it will be tried before a jury.[1] Its attorneys draw on prior defense-side trucking litigation experience, and the firm works on a contingency fee basis with free consultations.[1] The Liberty Bell serves as the firm's symbol, representing justice and equality.[1]
Practice areas
Cheeley Law Group handles truck and commercial vehicle accidents, car, motorcycle and pedestrian accidents, autonomous vehicle crashes, catastrophic injuries, wrongful death, premises liability, medical malpractice, defective products and business torts.[1] It serves clients in Alpharetta, Decatur, Douglasville, Dunwoody, Marietta, Roswell, Sandy Springs and Savannah.[1]
Notable cases
Cases associated with Cheeley include a $105 million jury verdict against General Motors in Hardy v. GM, a $105 million result in Mosley v. GM, a $90 million result against Suzuki Motor Company in Rodrigues v. Suzuki, a $150 million settlement against Johnson & Johnson, and a multimillion-dollar result against Toyota over faulty seat belts.[3] He also represented families of nursing students killed in a 2015 truck collision in Savannah.[2]
